One of the most common wrist lock techniques involves twisting your opponent's hand in a non-natural way. Although it is quite simple to do, this move is very effective. The next move you should make is to press your opponent's arm into the chest.

Another wrist lock example is the handshake wristlock. Grab your opponent's wrist with one hand, and then cup their tricep with the other. This is a great trick you can use standing up or lying on your back.

Another great way to perform the wrist lock is from a closed guard. A guard will allow you to insert your elbow into your body. This will prevent you from hyperextending your elbow.

The armbar is another great wrist lock technique. While you can attack from a top-position, it is harder to break an armbar. However, you can still set up the move from an omoplata or from a guard leading to the top.
