best martial arts for self defense

Martial arts can help you protect yourself against street violence. Krav Maga is a self-defense system that teaches street fighting techniques. When fighting in street combat, you should be aware your weight. A stronger person is likely to win.

Combat Sambo

Combat Sambo can be described as a form of wrestling but is more of a self defense style than a competitive sport. Its roots are in the Soviet Union where it was developed by the Red Army & NKVD. It is similar in appearance to judo, but allows leg locks or chokes. Additionally, there are fewer restrictions on gripping.

There are two styles of combat Sambo: stand-up Combat Sambo and grappling Combat Sambo. Stand-up Combat Sambo uses striking techniques like knees and elbows, while grappling Sambo focuses on subduing and ground fighting. Each opponent is allowed to use the floor for a maximum of 30 seconds in street fighting. However, he or she is not allowed to throw elbows on the opponent's sleeve or knee him in the head.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a street fighting martial art, is very effective and many people want to learn it. BJJ techniques are useful in situations where you might be injured or lose your life. BJJ not only offers a competitive sport, but also teaches grappling skills that can keep an attacker off balance.

Street fighting is a different form of MMA. Street fighting puts the focus on the fight and not on the endurance. The goal is to finish the fight as quickly as possible. Street fighting is freestyle so there are no predetermined rounds. The intensity of the attack depends on the opponent's strength, weapons, and defense. You want to be alive and prevent being killed. But it is unlikely that your opponent will have enough time to stop.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai, a form of self-defense that uses the elbows and knees, is practical. It requires quick reactions and is an excellent choice for street fights. It is also able to be fought close by and make powerful strikes, which are important in a street fight.

Muay Thai has full contact unlike other forms. This means that being hit can be quite shocking for many. Particularly if this is the first contact with an aggressive person. People can become susceptible to this shock.

MMA

MMA is arguably the most exciting form of combat sports. Although it is not a good choice for street fighting, a seasoned MMA fighter would likely win a fight on the streets. Street fights are usually fast, with adrenaline-pumped fighters swinging at each other at 100 miles per hour. Often, a street fight will end with one fighter taking the ground, and the winner is determined quickly.

The main difference between MMA & boxing is the fact that MMA focuses on teaching effective combat skills against a single opponent. It might not work against multiple opponents, but it will teach the proper techniques and how you can assess a situation.

Taekwondo

Taekwondo, which is one of the best striking martial arts worldwide, has millions of practitioners. There are many schools and instructors who teach it. It has been practiced for centuries. It teaches you powerful hitting techniques that can be used both standing or on the ground. You must also be disciplined and focus to complete the full body workout.

Taekwondo may not be as effective in street fighting as it is in competitions but you can still use it for your safety and protection. A 45 kick can be used to strike the opponent's lower half, which is typically the most vulnerable. Although it isn't as powerful as other Taekwondo kicks, it's fast and can be used as an unexpected attack against the opponent.
